Following the launch of her clothing line in September, Gwyneth Paltrow has announced the next addition to the Goop lifestyle brand: fragrance. Edition 01 – Winter 2016, available exclusively at Goop.com, is an earthy, woody, comforting scent, created especially to wear in the winter. Goop describes it as “a scent of cypress smoke, snow, sensual quiet.” It’s available as both an eau de parfum (from $165) and scented candle (from $72).
In-keeping with Paltrow’s all-natural philosophy, both are entirely chemical-free: the perfume uses sugar cane alcohol as its base, and the candle is made from soya wax. Goop’s plan is to launch subsequent fragrances each season – the next one is scheduled for spring 2017.
In the past, Paltrow has appeared in fragrance advertisements for Estée Lauder and Hugo Boss, so it’s perhaps unsurprising that she herself is sceptical about the idea of having one signature scent for life, saying “I’ve always had a wardrobe of fragrances, and I like changing fragrance, so I wanted to do one each for season.”
With the sophisticated-yet-non-toxic approach, the ever-campaigning Goop are set on “lighting the fire of a perfume revolution.” A campaign that you can participate in while cosying up at home on a winter’s evening? Sounds like just our kind of thing.
